I recently came across this article related to the Republic's arguments for the censorship of the poets in this excellent blog on the NYT, featuring contemporary philosophers on issues of general interest.
The article is based on a 2005 California law that imposes fines on stores for selling video games featuring objectionable content to minors; the law is currently under review by the US Supreme Court for alleged conflict with First Amendment protection of free speech, and the author (playfully) asserts that this establishes a link between Gov. Schwarzenneger and Plato.
I'm interested to hear what you make of the blog post, and how much you think Plato has to say to this issue. Comments?
